One Nation A Match Made at Wembley
Seven surviving Rave Archive UK recordings preserve One Nation at Wembley, while later Amazon Jungle Collection branding shows how the tapes circulated after the rave.
Wembley 25.5.96 at a glance
The event identity and the later tape-pack identity are kept separate so the archive does not mistake circulation history for the name of the rave.
The event first, the tape pack second
One Nation’s Wembley event survives through a particularly strong cluster of jungle recordings and MC combinations.
The surviving RAUK copies bring together Grooverider, Micky Finn, Darren Jay, Hype, Randall, Jumpin Jack Frost, Andy C, Kenny Ken and Ray Keith, with GQ, Stevie Hyper D, Flux and Fearless preserved across the MC combinations.
Several recording addresses include the Amazon Jungle Collection name. That belongs to the tapes’ later commercial circulation; the event itself is One Nation’s A Match Made at Wembley. The two names therefore document different stages of the same material’s life.
This is exactly the sort of distinction an archive should preserve: first the night, then the way its recordings were repackaged and carried into bedrooms, cars and tape collections afterwards.
