World Dance The Midsummer Dance Party
Lydd International Airport, Kent • Saturday 30 July 1994. World Dance’s summer airport rave survives through a PEZ flyer and a strong Rave Archive UK tape trail, with five sets from the night ready to hear.

An airport rave with its own identity
World Dance’s Lydd events became a distinctive strand of mid-1990s rave culture: large-scale, out of town, heavily produced and built around a broad breakbeat and jungle bill. The Midsummer Dance Party flyer gives this night a particularly strong identity, with the chrome World Dance artwork and the date printed across the front.
The advertised programme includes Sy, Hype, Ellis Dee, LTJ Bukem, Micky Finn, Darren Jay, Grooverider & Fabio back to back, Kenny Ken, Dr S Gachet, Dougal and Force, with MC GQ named prominently. A second block includes Marshall Jefferson, Luv Dup, Phil Asher, Steve Proctor, Danny Hodges, James ‘Avanti’ Anthony and Adam Carter. That is the advertised bill rather than a claim about the order they played.
Rave Archive UK’s tapes give the night real depth. Kenny Ken, DJ Sy, Ellis Dee, Dr S Gachet and Micky Finn all survive as recordings from 30.7.94, with GQ’s voice tying much of the surviving sound together.

World Dance at Lydd scale
The Lydd airport events belong to the period when jungle was becoming the dominant language inside many large London and South-East raves. This 1994 programme catches that shift while still carrying artists from the broader hardcore continuum and a separate house-oriented block on the same artwork.
