Desire Winter Wonderland
Club UN, Tottenham • Saturday 3 February 1996. Billed as a Back 2 Back Extravaganza, this Desire date makes the format part of the event’s identity rather than just a quirk of the surviving tape pack. Seven Rave Archive UK recordings preserve the night in unusually strong detail.
The B2B format becomes the headline
The surviving flyer frames Winter Wonderland around back-to-back DJ combinations. That matters because the RAUK recordings are not merely collector pairings added later: the collaborative format was part of how the night itself was advertised.
The archive preserves Special K with Flapjack; DJ Rap with Ellis Dee; Hype with Zinc; Grooverider with Jumpin Jack Frost; Andy C with Phantasy; Dr S Gachet with Kenny Ken; and Swann-e with Darren Jay. Rage, Fearless, Flux and Stevie Hyper D appear across the recordings, making the MC side of the night just as important to the surviving sound.
Event listings also preserve several of those same combinations, including Andy C/Phantasy, Hype/Zinc and Grooverider/Jumpin Jack Frost. That helps separate the event’s real B2B concept from the later order in which tapes were packaged or uploaded.

Collaboration as event design
By early 1996, back-to-back sets had become a major way of presenting drum & bass nights. Winter Wonderland is useful because the concept is visible in the event identity itself, and the surviving tapes let the archive hear how those pairings actually worked with MCs in the room.
