Desire 95
The Sanctuary, Milton Keynes • Saturday 29 April 1995. Eight direct Rave Archive UK recordings preserve Desire 95 with the MC combinations intact across the recordings: Rage, Flux, Fearless and Stevie Hyper D remain part of the tape identities throughout the surviving set.
The archive story
Eight tapes from The Sanctuary
The surviving RAUK set runs through Darren Jay, Hype, DJ Rap, Ellis Dee, Randall, Slipmatt, Micky Finn and Grooverider. The recording titles capture more than a DJ list: Rage, Fearless, Flux and Stevie Hyper D are woven through the archive copies and are kept visible as part of the event’s sound.
The Randall material survives in two forms, including the Randall & Slipmatt pairing with Flux & Stevie Hyper D. That detail remains part of the recording identity rather than being reduced to a single generic Randall entry.
Phatmedia’s flyer catalogue also places Desire / 2000AD Productions at The Sanctuary, Milton Keynes, on 29 April 1995, giving the eight tapes a firm event frame around the artwork and audio.

“Lords of the Underground” and Back in Time
A contemporary advert in Eternity #28 shows exactly how Desire sold the 29 April Sanctuary night. Arena 1 was headed “Lords of the Underground”, with Randall, Grooverider, Hype, Micky Finn, Darren Jay, Rap, Ellis Dee, Slipmatt, DJ SS and Swift & Zinc; Stevie Hyper D, Rage and Flux were billed on MC duties. Arena 2 was deliberately different: “Back in Time”, dedicated to the early acid-house / Summer of Love period.
The same advert announced a DJ Rap & Proper Talent live PA featuring tracks from the forthcoming Intelligence album. Atmosphere #22, published in the same period, also notes that Desire had secured The Sanctuary for 29 April following the sell-out Island event. The tapes below are therefore sitting inside a much clearer contemporary frame.
