Jungle Mania Jungle Showtime 94
New London Astoria • Saturday 1 October 1994. Rave Archive UK’s tape notes identify these as the earliest London Jungle Mania recordings in the collection and describe the night as the point where the brand stepped beyond its smaller LA2 club nights into a larger Astoria-scale event.

Jungle gets the Astoria stage
By autumn 1994, jungle had moved well beyond being described simply as a harder edge of hardcore. The DJs, MCs, labels and pirate-radio networks around it were creating a distinct London culture, and Jungle Mania’s move into the New London Astoria gave that identity a much larger central-city platform.
Rave Archive UK’s own tape notes describe this date as the earliest Jungle Mania London event represented by surviving recordings in the archive and as a significant step beyond the promoter’s smaller LA2 club nights.
The surviving tapes are heavyweight snapshots: Fabio & Grooverider with Stevie Hyper D; Kenny Ken & Randall with MCMC and Stevie Hyper D; and Ray Keith with MCMC, Tigger Maxs and Hyper D. Together they capture both the DJ partnership culture and the central role of MCs in early jungle’s live identity.
