Innovation presents Sweat London Club Tour Part 3
Camden Palace, London • Sunday 27 August 1995. The surviving Rave Archive recordings catch Innovation at a point when jungle was consolidating into drum & bass culture, with Kemistry & Storm, Dr S Gachet and DJ SS all preserved from the night.
Innovation in the 1995 club circuit
By August 1995, jungle was no longer simply the breakbeat edge of the wider rave scene. Specialist labels, clubs, promoters and artist networks were making drum & bass culture increasingly self-contained. Innovation’s Sweat dates belong to that moment, taking the sound into major London club spaces such as Camden Palace.
The archive value of this particular night is unusually strong because Kemistry & Storm survive prominently in two of the three Rave Archive transfers. Their presence connects the event to the Metalheadz-era sound and to the growing importance of women DJs within the specialist jungle and drum & bass network.
The third transfer preserves DJ SS with Stevie Hyper D and MCMC. Together the three recordings give the event a much stronger historical footprint than a simple listing, while still avoiding the mistake of treating surviving tapes as a complete running order.
