Elevation The Story Continues

By spring 1993, hardcore was changing quickly: darker breakbeats, tougher basslines and the ingredients that would feed jungle were increasingly present alongside the euphoric sound that had dominated the previous year. Elevation’s Easter Saturday event sits neatly inside that transition.

The Rave Archive UK survivor pairs DJ Rap with MC MC and Stevie Hyper D. Other recordings from the same event include Grooverider and a Donovan Bad Boy Smith / Simon Bassline Smith tape. Together they widen the picture, while the exact live running order remains unconfirmed.

The flyer is especially useful because it gives unusually precise venue detail: Roller Express, Lea Valley Trading Estate, Angel Road, Edmonton, London N18.

The Rave Archive recording gives this Elevation night something a flyer alone cannot: the interaction between DJ Rap, MC MC and Stevie Hyper D at Roller Express on 10 April 1993. The microphone is not an add-on to the set; it is part of the surviving performance.
