Dreamscape 14 The Halloween Ball
One of the strongest surviving Dreamscape tape records in the archive, with sixteen Rave Archive UK recordings and a flyer that restores the night’s two-arena structure.
The night at a glance
The sixteen DJ identities on this page closely match the surviving sixteen-name tape-pack catalogue, giving the night unusually strong recording coverage.
A remarkably complete recording footprint
The importance of Dreamscape 14 is not only the number of tapes but the range of sounds and MC pairings that survive attached to one exact night.
By autumn 1994 Dreamscape was operating at the mature, multi-arena end of The Sanctuary story. The promoter’s own history describes the site being enlarged as the organisation grew, allowing different strands of the rave scene to exist side by side under the same Dreamscape banner.
The sixteen recordings span Slipmatt, Hype, Dougal, Fabio, Swan-E, Seduction, Mastervibe, DJ SS, Frankie D, T-23, Vibes, Top Buzz/Jason Kaye, Randall, Trevor Rockliffe, Grooverider and Jumpin Jack Frost. The MC credits preserved in the archive titles — including Charlie B, Mad P, Magika, Flux and Conrad — remain part of the historical identity of the recordings.
What makes this page unusual is the close fit between those sixteen DJ identities and the surviving sixteen-name tape catalogue. That gives Rave Archive UK a very strong representation of the recorded event, while the surviving material still stops short of proving a complete original lineup unless period event material establishes that separately.
Sixteen tapes make more sense once the arenas are restored
The surviving flyer does something a tape list cannot: it separates the advertised programme into two arenas.
Arena One advertised Vibes, Peshay, Swan-E, Seduction, Hype, Dougal, Randall, Slipmatt, Jason Jay / Top Buzz and Sy. Arena Two carried Worm, C Smooth & Tracks, Mastervibe, T23, Trevor Rockliffe, Frankie D, Alex Hazzard, Grooverider, Fabio and Jumping Jack Frost, with MC names including Mad P, Magika, Charlie B and Flux across the event.
That layout explains why the sixteen surviving RAUK recordings can sound so different from one another. The Halloween Ball was not one linear musical programme; it was a deliberately multi-room Dreamscape. The later eight-pack catalogue and the flyer now reinforce each other without either being mistaken for a set-time sheet.
