AWOL at Paradise before jungle had settled into its name
The 29 August 1992 recordings catch AWOL at the Paradise Club while hardcore was splintering into the rougher breakbeat and bass-led language that would soon be recognised as jungle. Across the surviving tapes, Swan-E, Randall, Micky Finn, Kenny Ken, Dr S Gachet and Darren Jay appear with MC GQ and MC Prince.
The pack also shows how tape culture preserved the night differently from a simple event lineup. Several recordings overlap DJ handovers — Randall into Micky Finn, Micky Finn into Kenny Ken, Kenny Ken into Dr S Gachet, and Dr S Gachet into Darren Jay — which makes the surviving archive feel like a moving slice of the club rather than isolated studio-style sets.
Rave Archive UK currently holds nine playable copies. A separate MixesDB reconstruction documents the same date, venue and pack as a ten-part release, so the page keeps the surviving nine together without claiming that nothing else existed.
