Slammin Vinyl In Full Effect Part II
Rhythm Station, Aldershot • Friday 3 March 1995. The second In Full Effect event sits right in the mid-1990s split between jungle and happy hardcore, with an advertised bill spanning both sides of that widening sound. Five Rave Archive UK recordings survive and two further documented tapes — Sy and Druid — remain wanted.
One bill, two accelerating scenes
The advertised lineup captures the sound of early 1995 in transition: Sy, Dougal, Ramos, Hype, Vinylgroover, Druid, Clarke, Brisk, Red Alert, Billy Bunter and Jimmy J, with MCs Adrenalin and Smiley. It is the kind of bill that makes little sense if the period is flattened into one genre after the fact — jungle and the increasingly uplifting hardcore sound were still sharing promoters, venues and crowds even as their musical identities moved further apart.
Rhythm Station in Aldershot became closely associated with this run of Slammin Vinyl events. Phatmedia’s flyer archive dates In Full Effect Part II to 3 March 1995 at Rhythm Station and credits Junior Tomlin with the flyer design.
The five Rave Archive UK survivors represent Dougal with MC Smiley, Hype with MC Smiley, Ramos with Marley, Vinylgroover and Billy Bunter. The wider tape trail also identifies Sy and Druid, which remain clearly marked as gaps rather than being filled with unrelated audio.
